About the Maker

Charlotte Collier-Hunter is a disabled aratist living in London. She is an AuDHD dichotomy; an introverted social wasp and anemophilous occultist who is ambushed regularly by an Ehlers-Danlos body wearing a full body tattoo.  Inspired by the alchemy of materials and the four elements in the ancient art of ceramics, she plays with mud for a living after two decades of living a sensible day life as a registered nurse, giving into the reckless desire to become an artist.

An early adopter since childhood, she has been defined as a transhumanist with multiple upgrades, a rough trade biohacker, a goth (albeit mostly incognito these days) and was once described as the love child of Dorothy Parker and Sylvia Plath, and is blessed with two passports containing a plethora of stamps.

Moving back to London in late 2018, she found it almost impossible to transfer her nursing registration to the UK (a story for another time) and did a week long intensive ceramics course during lockdown (she already had a sourdough starter) founding Preaface Ceramics in 2021 and now produces functional pieces for restaurants and private clients all over the world and sculpture for exhibitions.
